Isn't exhaustion almost always a euphemism for the effects of substance abuse? The substance could be prescription medication or alcohol or illegal drugs etc. Why do so many people pretend that exhaustion can be the result of working in an office or attending dinners and receptions? If people dig ditches or move furniture for a living, then I suppose they could become exhausted from their work. But putting in long hours at an office job and attendance at a few social events can result in a fatigue for which the answer is a good night's sleep, but not in exhaustion.
